Project Prometheus announces that its Founder / CEO, Kai Sugihara, spoke at the 5th World Environment Summit, an international conference held at the First Members' Office Building of the House of Representatives in Tokyo.

Founded in 2020, the World Environment Summit is an international conference dedicated to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The summit has reached audiences in more than 30 countries and accumulated over 170,000 views across its official website and YouTube channel. It brings together ambassadors, members of parliament, government officials, researchers, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and innovators from around the world to discuss environmental challenges, sustainability, and technologies shaping the future of society.

During his presentation, Sugihara introduced Project Prometheus' vision for building the next generation of space energy infrastructure while addressing one of the most fundamental bottlenecks facing the future space economy: reliable access to energy.

As commercial space activities continue to expand—from Earth observation satellites and orbital computing to future manufacturing and industrial infrastructure in space—the demand for continuous, high-capacity power is rapidly exceeding the capabilities of conventional onboard power systems. Sugihara argued that energy should no longer be viewed merely as a subsystem of spacecraft, but as a foundational infrastructure layer that will enable the next generation of the space economy.

He presented Project Prometheus' vision of a Space Energy Network integrating orbital power generation, energy storage, and wireless power transmission technologies. Beginning with power delivery to satellites in low Earth orbit, the long-term roadmap extends toward supporting orbital computing, space manufacturing, lunar and Martian infrastructure, and ultimately establishing a global energy architecture beyond Earth.

Sugihara further emphasized that space development should not be understood solely through rockets or satellites, but through the infrastructure required to sustain civilization beyond Earth. Reliable and abundant energy will become the foundation upon which future industries, economic activity, and permanent human presence in space are built.
